La chouette est l’emblème d’un site universitaire des plus utiles ; véritable officine de rédaction, ce site propose aux étudiants, professeurs et autres auteurs, une version allégée et accessible à tous du manuel MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers de l’Association américaine du langage moderne (Modern Language Association of America).
Le site The Owl at Purdue – The Online Writing Lab at Purdue University – est donc un laboratoire de rédaction mis en ligne par l’université américaine de Purdue dans l’Indiana. Mais qu’entend-t-on par laboratoire de rédaction ? Un labo de rédaction est une banque de données mettant à votre disposition les clés d’une bonne rédaction, qu’elle soit universitaire (mémoire, article) ou professionnelle (CV, lettre pro en tous genres, mail…). Vous y trouverez donc des fiches techniques, des exemples ainsi que des exercices qui vous aideront à rédiger en anglais au quotidien.
Et bien que ce soit un site en anglais, il peut vous être très utile, car les règles de rédaction sont internationales. Certes, plusieurs des exercices corrigés en ligne sont des plus intéressants pour quiconque voulant remettre à niveau son anglais écrit (orthographe, conjugaison, grammaire…), mais le plus intéressant, et surtout le plus pratique pour nous à l’heure actuelle, reste les fiches tout droit sorties du manuel MLA 2009.
